Our Eco Promise

Lauvitel Lodge is a haven for the eco-conscious traveler and a gathering place for nature lovers. Our eco promise reflects our commitment to ethical and sustainable practices and outlines the steps we take to minimize our environmental impact.

Energy Efficiency

  • We have installed energy-efficient lighting and use movement detectors to switch lights on and off as needed.
  • We employ smart thermostats and individual thermostatic valves on all radiators to reduce energy use and optimize the comfort of our guests.
  • We are currently exploring options for the installation of solar panels and other renewable energy solutions to improve our energy management.
  • We have installed highly efficient wood burners to replace the open fireplaces.

Water Conservation

  • We have installed low-flow fixtures on all taps, dual flow fixtures on our toilets.
  • We implement water-saving practices where appropriate.

Waste Reduction and Recycling

  • We have implemented a comprehensive recycling program.
  • We avoid single-use plastics where possible.
  • We serve fresh home-made yogurt at breakfast in reusable glass jars instead of industrial yogurts in plastic containers.
  • We compost our food waste, which serves to nourish the gardens and our permaculture plot.

Sustainable Sourcing

  • We prioritize locally sourced ingredients from responsible producers. These include beer, honey, cheese, salads, vegetables …
  • We use eco-friendly cleaning products.

Guest Engagement

  • We encourage linen reuse and work with our local laundry service to reduce water and detergent consumption where possible.
  • We provide guests with information about the Lodge’s sustainability initiatives and encourage everyone to contribute.

Certifications

  • We support local producers who have obtained the "Esprit Parc" label from the Parc des Ecrins National Park and are in the process of applying for certification for the Lodge as recognition of our commitment to environmental performance.

Mobility and Transport

  • We will collect anyone arriving on public transport from the nearest bus stop.
  • We use local services for our regular deliveries.
  • We encourage our guests to use the local bus services (or the local hiking trails!), especially during the summer season, rather than their cars.

Offsetting

  • Our ethos is to encourage and support reconnecting with nature, in the nature friendly gardens, in the morning practice, in the nature immersion experience and throughout our retreats.
  • While we clearly have an environmental impact, raising our awareness and deepening our connection with nature will subsequently influence our choices and our practices.
